1. The Olive Tree
We had a great experience eating at the restaurant in Tsilivi called The Olive Tree. The service is great, the food delicious and the atmosphere delightful – all in all everything was perfect. We went to this restaurant after spending the day on the Tsilivi Beach and in the Tsilivi Waterpark, and were the first ones to get there, so we had a free choice of table and obviously took the most cozy corner. The front terrace of the restaurant comes close to what otherwise looks like a backyard, it’s green and lush, shielding from the town road running in front of the restaurant. I call it the tiny, Greek oasis in the middle of tourism and one of the best places to eat in Zakynthos.
2. Taverna Familia
Sometimes, it's the spontaneous actions that lead to the best experiences. And this is how we discovered this family-run, Greek tavern in the area of Vasilikos, Taverna Familia. This area is a quiet, rural seaside resort where the dining opportunities are limited. Finding this place and discovering that the food, atmosphere, service and the price all matched up was therefore relieving. Dining underneath the grape racks, this place gives you the authentic Greek atmosphere you might or might not have been looking for.
3. Dionysos
When we went to Zakynthos we stayed in this typical tourist village called ‘Argassi’. In Argassi you will find hotels, restaurants and shops aligned one after the other along the main road running through the town. Therefore, with so many restaurants to choose between and some failed attempts, too, I consider myself lucky to have found one of the best restaurants in Argassi, Dionysos! Until this day today, I am still not sure of how they could prepare such a delicious, vegetarian meal. I am sure they must have some kind of secret ingredient and I swear that someday I will return to find out.
